Lynn C. Fritz, Chairman - Lynn Fritz brings his leadership, experience and philanthropy to contribute to humanitarian relief. As founder of Fritz Institute, a non-profit widely regarded as the global expert in humanitarian operations, Fritz provides leadership to the Institute's work building processes and performance standards from the business world for humanitarian aid organizations. Fritz has been featured on the likes of BBC, CNN International, CNBC, and Fox, for his expertise and analysis about the operations and performance of humanitarian assistance.
A visionary in the global logistics industry, Fritz was the Chairman and CEO of Fritz Companies until May 2001 when it was acquired by UPS. Under his stewardship, Fritz Companies was transformed from a small domestic documentation company to a global organization of 10,000 employees in 120 countries. The company achieved Fortune 1000 ranking in 1997. His enduring contribution was to redefine a fragmented and limited services industry.
A native of San Francisco, Fritz serves on the United States Commission to Help Enhance the Livelihood of People (HELP Commission) and is a member of the World Economic Forum's Disaster Response Network. Fritz also serves on the Boards of Directors Georgetown University, San Francisco's Exploratorium and the University of California, Davis' Department of Viticulture and Enology.
Fritz received his B.A. from Georgetown University and a J.D. from Lincoln University School of Law. In recognition of his outstanding leadership and community service, he was honored with a Doctor of Laws degree by Pepperdine University in 1995 and a Doctor of Laws degree from Drexel University in 2004.

Robert Sproul, Chief Executive Officer - Robert Sproul joins Fritz Institute after close to thirty years in the advertising business as a senior executive in San Francisco and New York as well as the owner of several firms in the Bay Area. Most recently Bob was a partner in Madison Sproul & Partners, a marketing and business consulting firm working with companies such as Tyson Foods, Boise Paper, First American Title, Wells Fargo, and Russell Athletic. Prior to Madison Sproul, Bob was the General Manager of Clear Ink, the East Bay’s largest interactive and traditional ad agency. Bob was part of a team that grew Clear Ink from a thirty employee company known for promotions and collateral, into a complete integrated marketing company with billings of $180MM and 170 employees and a range of clients that spanned wine and food industry firms to a who’s who of technology companies.
Bob has an accomplished history of working with San Francisco Bay Area non-profits in the area of board policy and fundraising. Bob has served on the Alumni Board of Directors and was Chairman of the Letters and Science Board at University of California Berkeley. He helped UCB with its billion dollar campaign and in 2006 assisted with the fundraising efforts for the Bancroft Library that netted $20MM for renovations. As Chairman of the Board for the East Bay Conservation Corps, he steered the organization from being a purely service organization into a certified educational institution by founding and fundraising for the establishment of a charter school in Oakland, CA. |
Mitsuko Mizushima, Chief Logistics Officer - Mitsuko "Mich" Mizushima has lead global teams and a multitude of projects in logistics and supply chain management for over 20 years. This expertise expands Fritz Institute's capability to provide best practices from private sector logistics to support the operations of its partners in the humanitarian relief community. She has lead the creation of both traditional and online supply chain organizations, processes and services.
Best known for her leadership roles at global transportation and shipping company APL, Mizushima headed APL Business Logistics Services (BLS), a process-driven organization that uses proven, state-of-the art technology to deliver supply chain solutions to global clients. She recently served as CEO of an Internet start-up company that provides supply chain management services over the web. Her B.A. is from University of Hawaii and MBA from Pepperdine University. |
Paul Jacks, Director, BayPrep - Paul Jacks comes to the Fritz Institute after retiring from 31 years of service to the state of California. Most recently, Mr. Jacks served for eight years as an appointed Deputy Director in the Governor�s Office of Emergency Services (OES) under Governors Davis and Schwarzenegger. As a Deputy Director, Mr. Jacks had, at various times, overall executive management responsibility for the office�s preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation operations.
Mr. Jacks possesses extensive disaster-related experience having served as a state Public Assistance Officer, Governor�s Authorized Representative, or State Coordinating Officer for the state of California for more than 30 federally-declared disasters including the Whittier Narrows Earthquake in 1987, the Loma Prieta Earthquake in 1989, the Cape Mendocino and Landers Big Bear Earthquakes in 1992, the Northridge Earthquake in 1994, and the San Simeon Earthquake in 2003.
In addition to working for OES for almost 20 years, Mr. Jacks held other supervisory and management positions in the state�s Employment Development Department (EDD) and the California Conservation Corps (CCC). He also worked as a projects officer for the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in the Kingdom of Lesotho in southern Africa and as a project supervisor for Operation Crossroads Africa in the Republic of Liberia. In 2003, Mr. Jacks received the California Emergency Services Association President�s Award for outstanding contributions to emergency management in California.

Rich Eisner, Government Liaison, BayPrep - Richard Eisner joins Fritz Institute's BayPrep Initiative after 23 years as Coastal Regional Administrator for the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (OES), where he was responsible for the State's responses to disasters in the San Francisco Bay Region and north coast counties, and also served as Manager for the California Integrated Seismic Network (CISN), tsunami and Earthquake Programs. Prior to that appointment he served as the founding Director of the Bay Area Regional Earthquake Preparedness Project (BAREPP), providing planning and technical assistance to promote and support earthquake preparedness and hazard mitigation by local governments and businesses throughout the San Francisco Bay Region.
His 30-year career as an architect, urban planner, and urban designer has focused on issues of seismic design and urban earthquake hazard reduction, and he participated in California's response to the Loma Prieta (1989), Cape Mendocino (1992), Landers/Big Bear (1992), and Northridge (1994) earthquakes, as well as doing research in several other post-earthquake investigations. A recognized expert in community preparedness, Eisner has presented papers on California's comprehensive approach to earthquake preparedness in the US, Japan, China, Kyrgystan and the Ukraine. He has consulted on issues of hazard mitigation and emergency management with several international groups including the Global Assessment of Earthquake Countermeasures in Kobe, Japan, and serves on the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Building Sciences and the California Earthquake Safety Foundation, and on the Advisory Committee of the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program of FEMA, NIST, the USGS and NSF. Recently, Mr. Eisner was given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Western States Seismic Policy Council (2007). |
