Finding a cool place
Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu
|
| Sridhar and his wife Muthulakshmi still remember how the tsunami waves roared above their small house, crushing it along with 500-odd other houses in Keechankuppam. The waves carried both of them across the village to different areas. Sridhar found her in a relative's house in another village. Now they are building their life anew with a baby in the family in a cool thatch-and-brick temporary shelter given by the local NGO Sneha. "It is neat, spacious and cool unlike the hot, box-like ones often given by NGOs," says Sridhar. He is a videographer and is finding business again to shoot marriages and local events as life in this village gets back to normal after the destruction, 769 deaths and a period of grief. |
